Kathy Helmer

I first joined the DWC of Highlands County in 2018 shortly after I retired and moved to Sebring.  Locally, I have served as chair of the events and membership committees.  On the state level, I was elected earlier this year to serve as  DWCF's Chair for Region X.  Although I am a life-long Democrat, I had not actively participated in political activities until I retired.  I strongly believe it's never too late to get involved to support your political beliefs.

Before retiring, I practiced law in New York and New Jersey for 37 years.  My legal practice focussed on civil litigation and active trial practice involving commercial, environmental, insurance and anti-trust law.  I also headed a pro bono program to help victims of domestic violence obtain restraining orders and trained and mentored junior associates who participated in that program.
